Now, before you ask, none of the personnel here are actually named Irving Klaw. The first Irving Klaw Trio tape, released on Union Pole in 1993, is titled in honor of the group's namesake: The Pin-Up King. Irving Klaw was a pornographer in the old days, hey, go read the Leather Hall of Fame on Irving Klaw if you want a long write-up from the perspective of interested parties. "A strange and yet central place in the history of heterosexual BDSM in the 20th century," rock on, man. The name is also, as best I can tell, a joke on 50's/60's Latin Jazz outfit The Irving Fields trio.
IK3, as it's sometimes known, was the project of Jeff Fuccillo (head of Union Pole), Jason Funk, Andrew Price, and Ryan Poulos. They made... well, listen to the clips. They made some fun noise. Free improv! Frenetic! An energy sort of like, if Wckr Spgt's 2000 collection Jazz Compositions were actually jazz, right?
