What Does This Tape Sound Like?
|
No tracklist, all tracks untitled. No clarifying text on the J-card, either.
So what is this? This is Dennis Callaci plus Gary Held (of Communion Label and Revolver) doing any number of things, from fuzzy vocals and guitar effects, to piano, to rock interludes, to feedback/noise, to twangy textures, to synth tones. Sort of like walking through a big house where everyone is doing some kind of odd music in pairs, and you can half hear each one through the crack in the door as you go by. Or, if you've got some big headphones in and the sound's kind of enveloping you, maybe less purposeful and muffled than that, more like: say you're on the subway, and every time the doors open, there's just a speaker playing strange music loud on the platform, and it's nighttime, and you're completely alone. Take a listen to the clips, anyhow, see what you think. This is a neat one that I'd like to see reissued and more accessible someday.
