Where do I begin with Soul-Junk?

Well, have a listen to this for a minute, and I'll see what I can do from there.

Okay, what DOES it sound like?

So, in the early 90's before they moved north, Truman's Water needed a singer, they put out an ad. They got Glen Galloway on board for a while. And Glen, they say, Glen heard the calling of the Lord, telling him to leave the band and do something else. Blessed are you, Glen Galloway of Truman's Water, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Glen Galaxy, and on this indie-rock I will build my church! Anyway. He did go back to Truman's Water later for some stuff, and there's Octagrape also, and now his new thing is Sumatraban. Busy guy! At some point he begat Jude Galaxy and Milan Galaxy, who also played on some Soul-Junk stuff back in 2012. Maybe Soul-Junk will someday realize the dream of having the entire Bible set to music...

USEFUL NOTE. This tape is sometimes grouped with Soul-Junk album 1950, released on Holy Kiss Rex in '94. I got ahold of the 2001 reissue of that by the folks at Sounds Familyre to check things out, because the tracklists don't really line up except both starting with "The Lords Saxophone" and, all right, here's the thing. This tape is not 1950. I don't know if nobody listened to the thing because it had a Shrimper-size print run and they just assumed, by the name, right? Well, all the tracks are completely different, not just in name but in content. There's no Hosea on 1950, and 1950 Free Shrimp contains neither 1st nor 2nd Peter. The releases are completely distinct except that "The Lords Saxophone" is excerpted briefly for 1950.
