The Bux - Bad Luck Here (Recordings 1986-1990) (1992) [Shrimper, SHR40, Cassette]

This tape is a real joy. Those samples up there run a little long, but you want the whole 40 seconds of "Runtley's Moving Away Again Blues" that's excerpted in there. I think like 10 songs from this tape could be re-recorded now and be a slam dunk... maybe just a CD reissue of the really good ones?

the bux existed from the
summer of 1984 - the
summer of 1990. This
tape includes songs from
86 up (the first 2 years
are like pimples). Most
of these were recorded
live onto one track in
one bedroom or another.
A multitude of friends
are on these recordings 
too (thanks Eli, Chris,
Buckethead, Jim, Ed, Mike,
Nia, Nathan...) Now there
are only 942 unreleased
songs.... (900 of which
are easily worse than
Spanky + Our Gang...

RE: that note about the Fullerton recordings... am I the only one who really loves that reverb on "Dream Lorraine", at least in the early part? The variation of texture is a little like the Ah Club collaboration on the Suck & Run 7"... maybe it's just fun because it's so novel compared to everything around it. A little reverb, as a treat. Keeping the dream alive for that CD reissue.
