This is a nice album. They turn off the electric for awhile here, and Franklin's on piano all over it, so you can just settle in. Like Glitter Jazz, this one's pretty cohesive in its sound, so there isn't a lot to say about the flow of things. "Light Reds and Blues" is a beautiful intro, and after about 55 seconds you start getting Franklin's piano chords underneath everything, which is what promotes it to a "one for the Greatest Hits" entry. From there, it's more beautiful stuff, pretty steady. "Blank Cassettes" has Dennis and Allen singing in step the whole way through, which is always just the best. Chris Jones is on guitar for two tracks ("Prior to a Trapdoor" and "Yer Boombox Blues") and ukelele on one ("I'm Nothing Without You"). You can also hear Kristi Engle, formerly of Massengil but delivering some obviously very different vocal stylings here, on backing vocals on 'Cigarettes & Perfume' and 'Romantic Boredom no. 909'.
