As mentioned, "Sorely Tempted" is the same recording from the 7" of the same name, and its appearance on compilation Emotional Discipline. It features Joey Burns, whereas the rest of the recordings have Peter Hughes on bass.
"A Shaky Start" notable for Franklin's very sweet high note before the vocal harmonies kick in.
Peter's higher-volume outings with Diskothi-Q prepared him perfectly for the yelling as the "coach" in "Lapped". You can just hear the "stop torturing me!" from "Superchunk".
"(I'm A) Haunted House" has some pretty vocals by Peter alongside Franklin's, and the mix gives him a lot of real estate. It's a "funny song" song. The line about Dracula gets me every time. Screamin' Dick Nixon is not a name I have context for. A relation of Handsome Dick Manitoba?
From the booklet, the Hughes Mouth Marble text, which I transcribe to give you context for the last line of it:
In 1967,
a small team of scientists
working on the Apollo program were
exploring various methods of sending and
receiving emergency communications. It was believed
that, in the event of an emergency separating an astronaut
from his craft, he should remain able to communicate. One
member of the team half-jokingly suggested that a crew
member's dental filings could be used as a radio receiver. On a
lark the team decided to run a series of experiments. It was
discovered that some filings,
particularly those in the rear
molars, made remarkably
efficient receivers. Further
experiments suggested that, with some additional
surgical implants, sound waves thus received
could be 'translated' through the nerves in the tooth
in a form that could be directly processed by the brain's
auditory center.The idea was briefly pursued by NASA, but was ultimately scrapped.
The surgery required was expensive and had proved successful in only
45% of animal subjects. The rest were only able to distinguish isolated
frequencies, which led to dissociative personality disorders,
and, in one case, suicide. In the successful cases, however, the
auditory signal was found to have an unprecedented clarity,
which was described at the time as both "punchy" and
"warm."For
nearly thirty years,

to-tooth technology stood as
little more than a bizarre tangent
to our space program.Then, in 1993, an upstart engineer
at Chino-based Hughes Aurocorp
happened upon unpublished working papers
of the 1967 team. He was intrigued. He noted
especially the remarkable sound quality reportedly
achieved by the procedure. He theorized that if
a form of musical storage could be produced that
could be decoded directly by the listener's cerebral
cortex, without the interference of sense organs,
the fidelity would be extraordinary. The ear, after
all, creates its own noise, thereby masking the
true signal. The now-declassified NASA research
pointed the way, but because it used radio
signals, it was merely a starting point.After two years of painstaking
