Not a lot of cross-over with the usual people for the site. Our obvious areas of interest here are the tracks by Franklin Bruno, Nothing Painted Blue, and DiskothiQ.
I won't be covering the others right this second. Honorable mention to Booze-o-Phonic, whose credits include someone going by "Demen Semen" and state the recording was made in the men's room of a sleazy bar. A bit of digging informs me Demen Semen is a Mr. Craig Crafton. Thanks Craig for the laugh, I've just covered your contribution informally and wish you well.

What Do These 3 Songs Sound Like?

DiskothiQ covers a Time Zone (A. Bambaataa) song here, with Peter doing his best Johnny Rotten. To reach just slightly out of my wheelhouse: the original Time Zone version of "World Destruction" is the song chosen as the intro theme for Noah Kulwin and Brendan James' thoroughly researched and wonderfully presented history podcast Blowback. I'll link and recommend you listen to it, because Peter would get a kick out of that, and every so often, this website should probably try to improve Peter's quality of life more than it diminishes it. Hi, Peter :-)
Meanwhile, Nothing Painted Blue covers the Minutemen. Peter's the bassist on deck for NPB for this one, so he gets the cool bass part. Franklin thrives in an environment with verbose lyrics at high speed. This one is NOT on the 1997 Nothing Painted Blue compilation Emotional Discipline, so you'll have to find a copy of this CD secondhand to hear it.
For Franklin's solo outing on the comp we have "Purity Test", a Franklin original. This one is compiled on Fayettenam compilation "Local Currency: Solo 1992-1998". Also, the credits section misspells Kristi Engle's name.
Yes, the DiskothiQ section of the credits says "Sam Dimas", I'm committed to accurate preservation. See for yourself in the scan section.
Lyrics for the Franklin song, transcribed by ear:
5. Purity Test
so the crows fan down
to steal all the grapes from the vine
as you nod and frown
yes, to questions twelve through fifty-nine
you say you've done it in the wings of your high school play
you say you've done it seven times in a single day
with a boy who used to blindfold you and bind you
though i won hands down
i hadn't done half what i said
all the orange and brown
leaves can lose their innocence instead
i'm just an evergreen that's never seen steep descent
until you told me never hold me in your firmament
that prosaic mosaic you made of me
fell short of some sort of purity
you say you've in the history textbook stacks
and leaning up against the faculty thermofax
but you'd like to leave your sordid past behind you
no i won't exile the poets from our city state
i'll just smash the type who claims that you're some of who you date
i knew the scores but couldn't say what they represent
i say why can't we up the ante and you consent
that prosaic mosaic you made of me
fell short of some sort of purity
