Chris Jones does most of the drumming here as you can see from the above transcription of the booklet credits, while Joel Connell pitches in for "This Isn't Yet". Chris would take on sole drumming duties for Refrigerator starting with Anchors of Bleed the following year. (More on the amicable personnel change here.)

You can also hear "Bicycle" on How You Continue Dreaming. HYCD also has the full-tilt versions of  "Speedway", "Sorry State Line", and "Party Hat", found in their acoustic forms here. As for the songs unique to this CD, there's some great stuff.

"Daybreak" features some moody guitar instrumentation under Allen's vocals. "Body" brings in drums and some Dennis vocals, slow and steady. "Negative Girl" is acoustic with vocals. "To The Coast" is a joy, with a sax part that has to be heard to be believed. In my wildest dreams, I convince the current roster of the Mountain Goats (surely saxophonist and total sweetheart Matt Douglas could be persuaded) to cover it. "Ageing Paint" pushes the one-track recording to its limits, too beautiful to contain, way into the red.

Next, hey, there it is. A small disclosure here: "83 Ford" was the whole reason I bought this CD in the first place, and this was actually my first introduction to Refrigerator. The accordion in "83 Ford" was, according to personal correspondence, just sitting around in the studio at the time. Peter could play it, so he did, as the story goes. "The King of Bigscreen" is some of Refrigerator's best, in my opinion. "This Isn't Yet" is beautiful. Double-Callaci vocals, some of Joel Connell's last work with the band, fuzz into the microphone, it doesn't get any better. An acoustic version of the title track closes things out, sounding for all the world like it just unspooled off some spare tape from one of the early cassette outings.

01. Bicycle
see your sister riding
on her bike
crossing all the intersections
and she's got your eyes
and she looks almost like you
as she rides off, as she rides off
as she rides off on her bike

and she's got your eyes
and she leaves me feeling
like a balloon without a string
as she rides off, as she rides off
as she rides off on her bike

and she's got your eyes
and she looks almost like you
as she rides off on her bike

02. Daybreak
how long
before these streams turn back to rivers
how long
to pick up every loose pin from this floor
we've got nothin but daybreak between us
daybreak comes and goes
daybreak comes and goes

who's gonna fix these jammed transmissions
you don't need to whisper
i can't hear you anyway

we've got nothin but daybreak between us
daybreak comes and goes
daybreak comes and goes

it's the only thing that's on

03. Sorry State Line (Acoustic)
the windows are open
the doors are all locked
your luggage is here yeah
you haven't arrived

over the sorry state line

mistakes can make the revelation sure
never more than once
i let her down she let me go

over the sorry state line

04. Body
if i'm clear i won't be conscise
if it's precious in me
how can it be dear to you
used to love your body swimming in the sea
now you choke on swallowing your teeth

now all this body does
is attract the heat
now all this body does
for me

the postcards selling by the ocean
in crippled ink, crawl to me
in this black convertible top
and the radiator leaks

now all this body does
is attract the heat
now all this body does
for me

05. Negative Girl
she's a negative girl
wishes she had somethin nice to say
sometimes
she's a negative girl

there's a soul outside the door
doesn't make her happy
doesn't keep her warm

she's a negative girl

06. To The Coast
a newsstand
vendor confession
in a scribbled note
played out to the coast
in a long forgotten [inaudible]
that i meant to give you
meant to give you
but spring came too soon
had to change your shoes
comin untied at all the wrong times
anyway the thing is
never really felt like mine
used to have

07. Ageing Paint
aging paint puts up no fight
up and down the balcony
disposable white-wall waste
one-way mirrors, ceiling pans
all the steps you stole
face down and start to slide

a group of ten or more
sucking the hair from your heart
laughing at the way you
brilliantly sell yourself
like some cheap weed-eaten property

puttin up no fight

08. Speedway (Acoustic)
dana lives by where a
speedway used to be
she stays in her lane
tryin to turn the key
where the asphalt never ends
where anyone can win
pit stops, checkered flags
slow down, speed away

09. 83 Ford
your landlord, an 83 ford
drove you to your current state
biggest words i never learned
tie at once i apologize for

tom says hi
you look so different
from that far away
and stored the mess
that now gets put away

i won't drink and i won't speak and
i will not decide
i won't drink and i won't speak and
and i will not decide

10. The The King of Bigscreen

The King of bigscreen
25 steps back
at last

like a petal on a serpent
place gets noisy
bits left over

birds come by
nothing is right
cats are in the lines

11. Party Hat (Acoustic)
got your party hat on
the wrong way again
tryin hard to find a shirt
to match this moment in

tryin to forget
better try again

had nothin to lose
somehow you lost
know you feel sorry
don't know for who

tryin to forget
better try again

rolling down the windows
that you thought were
tryin hard to find a lock

12. This Isn't Yet
come collecting doctors
what froze from patient gray
all the patched up pockets
to show physicians every ray
one to fix the lightbulb
dangling above the bed
piles of gunpowder
to meet up with the lead

but this isn't yet

pit a boxer against a jury
no gloves to disguise his fists
discounting the exhibition
there's nothin hit or miss

but this isn't yet
