Paste - Learning From Las Vegas (1993) [Baby Huey/Shrimper, BABY 008/SHR 707, 7"]

What Does This 7" Sound Like?

Two tracklists are provided physically in the release. First, on the sleeve, the A-Side tracks are listed as "Soda Pop", "Go Forth (Eric)", and "Dive". On the record, they're listed as "Soda Pop", "Go Forth", and "Hubcap". Dennis's familiar Shrimper handwriting is on the sleeve, and the lyrics of the song ending the A-side talk about diving, so I'll put that one here formally. Scans are at the bottom of the page for you to see yourself.

That said, tracklist:

A1. Soda Pop
A2. Go Forth (Eric)
A3. Dive

B1. 6,000 Pounds of Feed
B2. Joke Strong
B3. Relative

Side A: "Soda Pop" has some great bursts of frenetic acoustic guitar. "Go Forth" is an instrumental. "Dive" has an accordion.

On side B, "6,000 Pounds of Feed" has some low-register guitar and great off-key noise under the vocals, lots of crashing and rumbling before the guitar comes back in guitar-like. "Joke Strong" comes in blown-out with plenty of feedback, some nice varied texture on the higher-pitched noise. "Relative" brings some acoustic guitar chords back into the picture, more of the Paste style you might know from something like Drugstore or a compilation appearance.
