I.O. Coca is an alias of Allen Callaci. The Bux were the original form of Refrigerator and are catalogued on that index.
Shoeface is given only first names here but that's Bob Durkee, Nathan Norio Wilson, and Mark Hower. The Shoeface track here, "Can't You See", was re-recorded in 1994 for Lift. The very crunchy version here in 1990 is possibly pulled from the self-titled Shoeface cassette, which I don't have a copy of to confirm (hello) but it could be from a radio session, too, with this many KSPC DJs in the mix.
The Nothing Painted Blue song here, "Go To Waste", is the first track on the 1997 Nothing Painted Blue compilation Emotional Discipline. From the liner notes on that release:
rec. May 3, 1988 in Claremont CA by Bob Durkee on 2 tracks.
KYLE: Kim now lives in Kansas City, MO.
FRANKLIN: The sole holdover from The Born
Leaders, Kyle's and my band at
Upland High. Some lyrics I had
written accidentally fit a riff penned
by our early bandmate Chuck
Featherstone, who inexplicably
played guitar right-handed and bass
left-handed. I added the Bm/G
change.
KYLE: Chuck didn't like the extra chords,
which I always thought was a
reflection on both his ego and his
taste. Last I heard, he was writing
for an English-language newspaper
in Saudi Arabia, presumably with
his right hand.
